  • Melmerby Beach Provincial Park

    “Melmerby Beach Provincial Park is located in Little Harbour (Route 289, 16 km / 10 mi north of Highway 104, Exit 27; follow signs) on the Northumberland Shore. Known for its warm waters, averaging more than 19° Celsius (66° F) in the summer, Melmerby is a popular 2-km (1.25-mi) beach with boardwalks. The beach is supervised in the months of July and August. Park features include change houses, flush toilets, salt-rinse showers, picnic tables, boat launch and abundant parking. The park also offers an accessible coastal viewing opportunity.”

  • Caribou-Munroes Island Provincial Park

    Caribou-Munroes Island Provincial Park

    “Caribou-Munroes Island Provincial Park is 11 km (7 mi) north of Pictou and close to the PEI ferry terminal. A mile-long sand beach offers some of the warmest saltwater swimming north of the Carolinas and the campground provides excellent opportunities for camping, or just appreciating nature. Hiking trails can be enjoyed along the shore to Munroes Island. Other activities include bird watching, canoeing and kayaking.”

The park has tables next to the highway convenient for a quick stop, as well as tables along the West River on the edge of a large open field. Group use is available. Park amenities include picnic tables, water taps, and vault toilets.”

    “Keppoch Mountain is a former alpine ski hill that has been revamped as a four-season outdoor recreation facility run by a non-profit organization. 40 kilometers of non-motorized, multi-use wilderness trail is supported by ample parking, a clubhouse, bathroom facilities both indoors and outdoors, a large patio, fire pit, bike repair and wash station, and ample seating both at the clubhouse and on the trails. Enjoy mountain biking, off-road cycling, bouldering, swimming, hiking and trail running all summer and fall and then snowshoeing, fat-tire biking and Nordic skiing in the winter months. There is one fully wheelchair accessible trail with low grades and crusher dust as well. “
